Scope and Sequence
1st Quarter: A Game Plan for Life

The ten sessions cover critical topics that all youth face. One focus word is used throughout the duration of each session, helping to motivate the students and helping them apply the lesson to their lives.

Session 1: Developing a Game Plan for Life

DETERMINATION This session will help the students become aligned with a purpose and will in their lives. Activities will be centered around deciding who they are, what is important in their lives, what their reward system will be, etc.


Session 2: Communication with Parents/Significant Others

OBEDIENCE This session will discuss communication techniques and active listening for both parents/significant others and students. It will stress the art of being quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.



Session 3: Drugs & Alcohol

DECISION This session will explain the negative effects of the drugs and alcohol used in today's society. It will also examine prevention strategies and support systems for healthy choices.



Session 4: Anger & Violence

SELF CONTROL This session will allow the students to focus on the importance of keeping their anger and emotions under control at all times.



Session 5: Abstinence

LOVE This session will discuss the moral, physical, and emotional advantages of the fact that abstaining from sex until marriage is what is best for them and a viable option in today's society.



Session 6: Racism

EQUALITY This session will discuss how racism and prejudice have been engrained into our society, how it adversely affects everyone, and why we must treat those around us as we want to be treated.



Session 7: Peer Pressure

PREPARATION This session will reinforce with the students the importance of standing firm in their beliefs and to be prepared for anything that may come into their lives that could cause them to fall into a trap that leads them away from their plans and goals in life.


Session 8: Education & Employment Preparation

DISCIPLINE This session will discuss the significance of education in living a successful life as well as the importance for one to be prepared when the time comes to enter the work force.



Session 9: Financial Education

ENTRUST This session will serve educated students on using their finances wisely, particularly in the areas of giving, saving, investing, and credit. Activities will be centered on using what we have been given; time, talents, and treasures, to make the world around us a better place.


Session 10: Leadership

INTEGRITY This session will illustrate for the students the leadership qualities that a person must possess to make a difference and lead others to a better and more fulfilling life. Leaders are made not born. We all have a leader in us!
