Research has demonstrated that kids are highly motivated
through music, entertainment and sports. The 1st Quarter
Curriculum incorporates all three elements into its
program in order to captivate and involve the students.
The program has been developed for all types of student
learners, offering instructional activities for a
variety of learning styles.
The topics and objectives of the program are based
on research, grounded in findings and best practice
at the state and national levels.
The program has a proven track record.
Feedback on student progress is standardized and
continuous, including pre- and post-course forms of
assessment.
The program includes The 1st Quarter Significant Others' Handbook
as well, which details weekly unit topics and monthly
parent/significant other meetings.
Student participants receive The 1st Quarter Player's
Guide which includes all program handouts and resources.
Program leaders are trained through the 1st Quarter
organization and receive ongoing instructional and
technical support.
Each program leader receives The 1st Quarter Trainer's
Kit, full of classroom materials, multi-media resources,
and guidelines for implementation.
The program curriculum outlines an array of activities,
designed to meet the skill and needs of adolescents.
Additionally, each session includes a listing of relevant
resources and materials.
All student participants successfully finishing the
program receive a certificate of completion. Additionally,
one student and one parent will be honored with the
MVP award (most valuable participant).
